How to setup Welcome Message


Welcome Message is the first message the user will receive from your Messenger bot. This message is sent when the user interacts for the first time with the Bot by clicking on the ‘Get Started’ button. Only Messenger Channel supports the Welcome Message.


The below image is the perfect example of how a welcome message looks like,

The first message (gray color) on the right side image, is the welcome message.


Follow the below steps to set the Welcome Message for your Messenger bot

1 – Create your welcome flow

2 – Navigate to Menu > Settings > Channels > Messenger > Welcome Message.

Select the flow that you created in 1.

How to setup conversation starters


Ice Breakers provide a way for users to start a conversation with a business with a list of frequently asked questions. Your users will see questions related to your business instead of the generic “Get Started” button. We recommend you to use the Icebreaker feature.

It will help the audience to start a conversation with your business.


To create an ice breaker for your business, set the frequently asked questions about your business navigate to Menu > Settings > General > Icebreakers and click the “Edit” button.

Before that, you need to set the training phrases on the Calen AI platform.

To train your frequently asked questions, go to Menu > Automated Responses and select “Add”.

Now, you need to fill in the details on the next setup wizard (as similar to the image below).

Here in Automated ResponsesI wizard, enter your frequently asked question on the “User message” field and select the checkbox if your FAQ contains keywords. 

Then, choose the “Flow” option if you already have a chat flow prepared for this training phrase. If you don’t, then fill in the text response to that training phrase in the “Response” field.

You can also choose “+ Add Replies” to give more replies for that training phrase. 

If you had 2 or 3 replies for a single training phrase, then the Messenger chatbot from our Calen AI will choose one reply randomly.

If you want to include additional or more training phrases, select the “Add More” option at the start of this setup wizard.

Then don’t forget to save this process.

Like this, you can create “n” number of training phrases inside the platform.

Let’s see how we can use these training phrases as icebreakers on the Calen AI platform.

Now, go to the Icebreaker feature on the “Settings” section and edit it.

Choose the training phrases which you already prepared in the “Automated Responses” section and save the process. That is it. This is how we need to create and use icebreakers on the Calen AI platform.

How to setup the greeting message



The greeting message is the first message that an audience can see when they come to your Messenger chatbot. 

Take a look at the below image.

Your Messenger chatbot’s greeting message will get displayed here (in the image) like a business description. Use this feature to turn your audience into subscribers and tell them about your business with a short description.

Learn the steps below to know how to set greeting messages in different languages.

Yes, you can set greeting messages in various languages based on your audience application language.

To create a greeting message, navigate to Menu > Settings > Channels > Greeting > Edit.

Then, enter your greeting message on the given field and save the process. That’s it.

If you want to use multi-language greeting messages, select “+ Language” drop-down menu and choose the languages as per your requirement.
